The Camps Group was founded in 1990 by Jeffrey L. Camps as a full-service insurance brokerage firm. We are headquartered in New York, NY, and have a staff of 45 professionals, including most dedicated to employee benefits. In addition to our professional staff and value-added services, The Camps Group is able to provide a wealth of resources to our clients through prestigious national affiliations.

Our Principals

The three principals of The Camps Group, LLC representĀ 60 years of employee benefit expertise.

Jeffrey L. Camps, Principal
Jeffrey L. Camps founded The Camps Group in 1990. With over 25 years of employee benefit experience, he focuses on product selection, case design, and underwriting. Mr. Camps also works closely with accountants and attorneys to provide business and estate planning, along with counsel on structuring executive compensation.

As a recognized industry leader, he is a sought-after speaker on topics such as underwriting and benefit planning.

Mr. Camps is an officer of the New York Chapter for Financial Services and a director of the Estate Planning Council of New York. He served as president of the General Agents and Managers Association from 1992-1993.

Mr. Camps earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University.

Don Rapaport, Principal
Don Rapaport joined The Camps Group in 1997. He hasĀ eighteen years of employee benefit experience, with an emphasis on developing innovative underwriting structures.

Previously, Mr. Rapaport spent five years with Oxford Health Plans. He managed the vital midtown Manhattan territory, selling into and servicing major publishers, advertising agencies, law firms, and other top accounts.

Ranked among Oxford Health Plans’ top-producing associates, Mr. Rapaport also directed the strategic partnership between the insurer and one of the world’s largest banks.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut.

Jay Vogel, Principal
Jay Vogel joined The Camps Group in 1998. With more than seventeen years of employee benefit experience, he has a strong background in cost reduction strategies and account service.

Mr. Vogel previously spent five years with Oxford Health Plans, managing Manhattan’s financial district territory, one of the nation’s largest benefit marketplaces.

Relied on for his insight into client satisfaction, Mr. Vogel was instrumental to the development of Oxford Health Plans’ first Web-based service capabilities. He is a frequent speaker on employee benefits, and has appeared on ABC’s Business Week: Money Talks to discuss combating the rise in health care premiums.

Mr. Vogel earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut.
